Brooks Recognizes Members Of The Entrepreneurs Network

Joined by B. Thomas Golisano, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks today recognized the Class II members of The Entrepreneurs Network (TEN) who recently completed the six month program.

“The Entrepreneurs Network is part of my strong commitment to creating jobs and growing our region’s innovation economy. Certainly, we need look no further than the story of Tom Golisano and Paychex to understand the power of the entrepreneurial spirit,” said Brooks. “The members of TEN are innovative and cutting-edge companies that are putting our region on the map. We are thrilled that TEN is helping entrepreneurs take their companies to the next level.”

Class II includes the following companies:
The Friendly Briefs, Rochester; Cutting Edge Surgical Lasers, Fairport; Diffinity Genomics, Henrietta; EzMed Technologies, Rochester; FALCONEER Technologies, Williamsville; LucidityWorks, Henrietta; RailComm, Inc., Fairport; SensiVida Medical Systems, Canandaigua; Solar Sentry Corp., Pittsford; SweetWater Ethanol, Rush; Wakonda Technologies, Fairport.

Brooks highlighted several Class II success stories:

Solar Sentry Corp. raised $700,000 of equity investment. Solar Sentry is developing monitoring products and services for commercial solar electric sites to lower the cost of solar electricity. The investment will be used for development of products and services, sales channels, and the installation of two field demo sites.

eHealth Global Technologies, an industry-leading medical record service provider received a contract from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to provide its eHealthConnect service to the Medical Center’s transplant program. eHealthConnect provides medical records and image collection services, making the records accessible over eHealth Global’s secure, internet-based viewing system.

Wakonda Technologies was selected as one of ten finalists in the prestigious MIT Ignite Clean Energy Business Presentation Competition.  Wakonda is developing cost-effective solar power by combining the high efficiency of aerospace solar cells with low cost, roll-to-roll manufacturing processes.

The Friendly Briefs, eHealth Global Technologies and Wakonda Technologies were among six finalists in the Rochester Regional Business Plan Contest. Wakonda Technologies was awarded second place.

The Entrepreneurs Network, launched in January 2006, is the first program of its kind in Upstate New York. It was created based on the best practices of leading entrepreneurial training, education, and networking programs. TEN classes meet twice a month for six months and interact directly with top local and national experts who provide the resources and information needed to grow successful high-tech companies.

TEN is funded by the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) and the Finger Lakes Partnership WIRED Initiative. Class III started the program earlier this month.
